Historic Participation of Cyprus at Robotex International 2025
From Estonia, next year to Korea
The largest Cypriot robotics delegation has returned from Tallinn, Estonia, where the Robotex International World Robotics Competition was held for the 25th consecutive year.
Cyprus has been participating in the event since 2017 and this year recorded the largest delegation in its history. A total of 302 participants—competitors, coaches, parents, chaperones, and volunteers—represented our country with excellence.
Despite the highly competitive nature of the contest, with participants from countries such as China, Korea, India, the USA, and Brazil, the Cypriot teams once again achieved impressive results in many challenges:
- Laouris teams, from the institute of the same name, won 1st place in Multi Terrain Passing, 2nd place in the Autonomous Drones, Uphill Mountaineering, Folkrace-U16, Lego Line Following – Tallink University Award & Lego Line Following-U14 challenges, and 3rd place in the Lego Line Following-U19 and Girls Firefighting challenges.
- The Angels teams, consisting of students from Archangelos Gymnasium and Lyceum, won 1st place in Girls Firefighting-U19 and achieved strong results in Line Following.
- Excellent performances were also recorded by the teams from Apoplous Culture Lab, which secured 5th place in Line Following-U19.
- The independent team Kodmastroi Droidbros stood out, earning 6th place in Multi Terrain Passing, a new robotics challenge requiring advanced problem-solving skills.
Cyprus also had a strong presence in SUMO robotic battles, with teams from the following organizations:
- Computer Training Center Salomi Evripidou
- PROTON
- STEAMINDS
- WE BYTE
- Gymnasio & Lykeio Polemiou
The following teams from Robotex Cyprus Educational Robotics participated in the corresponding Roboleague Challenge of Robotex International 2025, presenting their impressive creations on the theme “Robo-Doctors: The Doctor’s Appointment of Tomorrow”:
- Aquatic Lab & Underwater Lab – Robotics Lab
- PRObots Novabots – Computer Training Centre Salomi Evripidou
- PROTON – from the institute of the same name
- Robospartans – The Steamers Nicosia
- TIMErs Robotics & TIMErs Junior – T.I.M.E Private Institute
With the support of the Research and Innovation Foundation, the following teams travelled to the event: Angels (ARCHANGELOS – ANGELS ROBOTICS), Dream Big (Apoplous Culture Lab), PRObots (Computer Training Center Salomi Evripidou), Kodmastroi (Droidbros), Laouris Seven (Y. Laouris Informatique), Proton Robotics Lab (Proton Institute), Water Heroes (STEAMINDS), and We Byte (We Byte Institute).
End of an Era for the Historic Event
Members of the Organizing and Scientific Committee of Robotex Cyprus accompanied the delegation, representing the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) at the Robotex national stakeholders’ meeting. During the event, it was officially announced that in 2026 the world competition will be held for the first time in South Korea. This year’s event marked the end of a historic era: after 25 years in Tallinn, Robotex International will now be hosted in a different country each year.

Future Prospects & Upcoming Activities
Congratulations to all teams for their excellent participation and international achievements! Our young roboticists showcased Cyprus’ strong presence on the global robotics stage. We look forward to meeting again in June 2026 at the parallel Robotex and MRC Cyprus events.
Until then, CCS continues with a rich program of annual digital skills activities. During the Christmas season, the 1st round of the Cyprus Informatics Olympiad will take place online, while registration for the FIRST® LEGO® League robotics competition concludes in mid-January.
