Robotex MRC 2024: New Sports Robotics and Drone Competitions in a Tech Weekend!

The Cyprus Computer Society invites you to visit the largest educational robotics festival in Cyprus, Robotex MRC 2024! The festival will take place on the weekend of June 29-30, 2024 (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM) at the Sports Center of the University of Cyprus.

The event will be inaugurated by by the Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy, Mr. Nicodemos Damianou.

For the first time in Cyprus, the Robotex festival will feature the Minoan Robot Sports Competition (MRC). In the 7th National Robotex Robotics Competition and the 1st National MRC Competition, 600 roboticists, including pupils, students and adults from across Cyprus, will compete in 20 different robotic challenges.

During the 2-day festival, primary school students will present robotic constructions on the theme: "Robots for an Inclusive Society."

On Saturday, June 29, robots will race on Line Following and Folkrace fields, navigate mazes, and aim for targets in archery! Simultaneously, the highly anticipated Drone Competition will be held on the lower floor of the same building.

On Sunday, June 30, the festival will begin with a dance performance by students from the Elena Clark Dance School. Robots will battle in SUMO, race on a new 15-meter rally field, and participate in the new shot put challenge. The program also includes Girls Firefighting, exclusively for girls, aiming to attract more women to STEAM fields.

Robo.com.cy will present the Robotex Cyprus Kypruino, a unique, limited edition, Cyprus-made Arduino Uno board. The venue will also feature interactive booths from the Cyprus Computer Society, the Makerspace of the Youth Board, Neapolis University, and organizations such as ECECT, Novatex, O3, and Cyric.

Robotex MRC Cyprus is organized by the Cyprus Computer Society, in collaboration with the University of Cyprus, the Youth Organization, and IET Cyprus. The event is under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, and approved by the Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth, and ETEK. It is supported by XM as a tech partner and the Bank of Cyprus as a youth supporter. It should be noted that the winning teams will represent Cyprus in the respective international MRC (Crete) and Robotex (Estonia) competitions, where Cypriot students have excelled in previous years.
