15 Cypriot Robotics Teams Travel to Crete for the MRC Global Olympiad 2025

A dynamic Cypriot robotics delegation, consisting of 15 teams, 58 students, and 8 coaches, is preparing to travel to Crete to represent Cyprus at the Minoan RobotSports Competition (MRC) – Global Olympiad, taking place from April 11 to April 14, 2025.
The participating students are the winners of the 1st Cyprus Robotics Competition MRC, organized by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) as part of Robotex MRC Cyprus 2024 in June last year.
These teams excelled in the Archery, Shot Put, Rally, and Drone robotics challenges and will compete in the corresponding categories in Crete.
The organizations and coaches representing Cyprus are:

- Eurolab Kokkinotrimithia – Coach: Kyriakos Iacovou
- The G C School of Careers – Coach: Nikolas Nikolaou
- Y. Laouris Informatique – Coach: Yiannis Laouris
- Open School of Strovolos Municipality – Coach: Antonis Phinicarides (replacing Loukia Tsouka)
- Regional Gymnasium of Akaki – Coach: Christakis Kyprianou
- TESEK Ammochostos / Avgorou – Coaches: Evangelia Economou & Andreas Kile (replacing Elena Polykarpou)
- TESEK Makarios C Nicosia: Anna Parpa
- TESEK Paralimniou: Andri Christofi
We sincerely thank the Research and Innovation Foundation for financially supporting the teams on this significant journey of robotics, education, science, and technology!
The delegation will also be accompanied by volunteers Dr. Alexis Polycarpou (Associate Professor at Frederick University) and Mrs Fotini Georgiou (Research Engineer and STEM educator, ECECT), members of the Board of IET Cyprus and the Scientific Committee of Robotex MRC Cyprus.
The competition, organized annually by the CCS with the support of public and private institutions, serves as an important platform for promoting innovation and technology.
The next Robotex MRC Cyprus competition will take place on the last weekend of June 2025 at the University of Cyprus, with registrations opening soon!
