Robotex & MRC 2024: For the first time in Cyprus sports robotics competitions!

The Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) announces that within the framework of this year's Robotex festival, the Minoan Robot Sports Competition Global Olympiad (MRC) will be organized for the first time in Cyprus, in cooperation with HERO - Hellenic Educational Robotics Organization.

The 7th Pancyprian Robotex Robotics Competition and the 1st Pancyprian MRC Robot Sports Competition will be held in parallel at the University of Cyprus Sports Centre, on the weekend of 29 and 30 June 2024.

See the official Announcement here.

The event is addressed to students of all ages and adults and the participation fee per team is 50 euros. The winning teams of the Robotex challenges will participate in the next Robotex International in Estonia, from which in previous years the Cypriot delegation returned with a number of distinctions.  Similarly, the winning teams of the MRC challenges will participate in the MRC international event in Crete.

Therefore, the SUMO robotic battles, the exciting Line Folllowing challenges, the Folkrace car challenge and the exit from the maze are this year enriched with archery, shot put and car rally sport challenges. Building on last year's successful Drones demonstrations, this year's event includes a unique competition with educational Drones where increased participation of teams is expected. Once again, the focus is on attracting more women into STEM fields with the Girls Fire Fighting challenge.

"Robots for an Inclusive Society" is the theme of the established Engino and Lego educational robotics exhibition by elementary school students, and there is also this year an Open Category for robotics construction aimed at middle school and university students.
